L.A.P.S Photos With Santa!

Today League for Animals and People of the Summit hosted their annual photos with Santa and the Grinch! The event was held at the Frisco Historic Center. Several families and their furry family members came out to get pictures on the sleigh and by the tree. There were all types of breeds and dogs of all ages from young 8 week old pups to more senior dogs aged up to 16 years! To top it all off there was a fresh layer of snow covering the historic park.

To the left is Tatum, a cute chocolate lab owned by Nancy Johnson, business owner of Traildog Treats. Nancy bakes homemade dog treats and brought plenty of samples out to the event today!

L.A.P.S also provided scarves and Santa hats for the pets to wear. You can see several pets styling some festive holiday accessories in the pictures. The event today was the perfect opportunity to get a great photo for a custom family Christmas card. We recommended this event to any of our pet owning guests. One of the great things about Summit County is that you can take your pet just about anywhere and find something to do with your furry friend at anytime. We always encourage guests to bring their pets when they come up and stay with us. Nothing brightens our day like checking in a furry family member!

Stay Real. Ski Summit.

Front Desk Agent Scott on Loveland Pass

Anyone who has stayed at the Holiday Inn Summit County cannot deny the friendy and enthusiastic vibe our front desk staff gives off. You can always count on a very warm and welcoming check-in. One reason for this is that our front desk agents love working together and are an incredibly cohesive team. A family even. This bond carries through in the other fun activities the front desk staff enjoys together outside of the hotel. One of these is that all of our front desk agents love to ski or snowboard. They love it so much that two of our front desk agents, Scott and Kevin wasted no time in making it out to Loveland Pass this past Saturday, September 28th, after the Friday night snowfall. That's right, snowboarding in September! They truly love to be out on the mountain. This is one of the reasons the Holiday Inn staff enjoys having our guests that come up to ride at the local resorts. There is nothing better than the feeling you get from snowboarding or skiing and being able to see others enjoy that same experience. This coming season keep your eye out for a bunch of footage from the Holiday Inn staff's adventures on the mountain on our Facebook page and blog. You will be able to see how the snow conditions are as well as some of the features the local mountains such as Keystone, Breckenridge and Copper have, just in case you needed any more convincing to come up and visit. Also be on the lookout for pictures and videos from the skiing and snowboarding events in Summit County. One the biggest events, Dew Tour, hosted by Breckenridge Ski Resort has just been chosen by USSA (United States Ski and Snowboard Association) as the 5th event for selection of 2014 Olympic athletes. The Dew Tour is on December 12-15 and sure to be a blast and great opportunity to watch your favorite pros compete. We're looking forward to an exciting ski season and hoping that your family will be coming to ski or snowboard with ours at the Holiday Inn. Remember, a family that plays together stays together!

Snow on Summit's Peaks This Week

Whether you were passing through Summit County or you are a resident, if you happened to be around on Thursday morning you would have seen that Summit County's peaks were capped with fresh powder! Everybody knows that means the season is right around the corner. Historically, Arapahoe Basin has opened during mid to late October in past years, being one of the first mountains in Summit County to open up for skiers and riders for the season. This year, Keystone and Copper's opening day is planned for November 1st, Breckenridge on November 8, and Vail for November 22. It is never too early to start planning a trip for opening weekend or anytime during the ski season. One of the amazing qualities of the Holiday Inn Summit County is that our location is centralized to all of these wonderful ski resorts! Access to the resorts is incredibly convenient for guests no matter which mountain you choose to ride or ski at. The location is beneficial to Epic Pass holders who wish to visit a variety of the Vail Resorts mountains while staying with us. Our staff also enjoys their fair share of skiing and snowboarding as well during the season. Keep an eye out for more posts during the season about events that will be held at some of the resorts. We hope to see you out here and on the slops soon!
